Forming a conclusion to the project.

I feel that this project has come to a number of resolutions rather than one single final piece. I also feel that is is a project i could continue to research for a lot longer, i could choose other objects to investigate in more depth and continue in this way. However i feel that if i were to be showing a concluding piece for this work i would show the wooden piece in relation to the table. The two plaster encased chair legs, one drawing made around and through a chair, and a the two photographs of the chair and the seat removed from the chair as 4 seperate works. I like the idea of having four components to the main body of the work as the number four seems to represent a chair in my opinion, for example four chair legs.

Here i have experimented with changing scale, i have taken the mould i made, encasing the chair leg and have made the leg bigger than life size and almost too big for the room. I have contrasted this with the same piece on a shelf, becoming more object like.

More photoshop- Visualising potential ideas

Image from the internet that interested me

I decided to take my wax casts and to try to enhance them through the presentation of the single casts and the casts together as multiples.

Continuing to experiment with photoshop, this time using the wax cast of the mesh to make work

Tuesday 27 November 2007

I then started to experiment again with unusual human reaction with chairs, photogaphing someone spinning the chair round on one leg.

Trial placing the wax casts of the mesh onto a replica of the chair the mesh came from

I then experimented with the placement of the plaster encasement pieces on the table. I then decided to try to experiment with the wooden chair seat when placed on another chair i have modified.

Experimenting with displaying the pieces on the table, to represent the formal relationship between chair and table.

Latex and wax casts

Wax castings of the mesh from a chair

Because the wood expanded with the moisture from the plaster it started to crack, i decided to break up the outer plaster mould in order to view the casting from the inside aswell as the outer covering of the chair legs which draw the viewer to look at the top of the leg, which is the part no one normally looks at.
The bottom photo shows the feeling box i made, in order to experience objects by touch rather than sight, inside i will experiment by placing parts of the chairs. I feel i like the concept however aethetically it doesnt work so well. It would be interesting to try to make a more visually interesting box.

Trying to enhance the pieces i have taken from existing chairs

I decided to move my work on i would go to the workshops and use the processes available to enhance some of the pieces i have taken from chairs. For example making casts and setting the pieces into plaster.

Trying to use photoshop to munipulate the pieces i have made.

I have experimented by placing the pieces at different scales and in different settings. I have also made multiples and created images by layering the edited photographs.
