Link to Martin creed's website.

I have been looking at martin Creed's work as i am interested in his use of objects and materials as the content of his work. He is particularly interested in how people interact with objects and his work is often about view participation. This is something i am very interested in. Creed investigates perception and how perception can be altered and munipulated by the artist.

Documenting chairs

Taking photos of chairs in unusual ways and looking into people sitting in chairs and how the forms of chairs can be abstractd through the composition of the photograph.

chairs chairs chairs!

A few photos illustrating my experimentation with making abstracted chair forms from scratch and by using existing parts of chairs.

Continuing to investigate chairs as the main theme of my work, finding it interesting how diverse the forms of chairs are, how much one object can vary in design and how this can be munipulated into art work. I have started to get back into the workshops, using the wood workshop to take apart and customise existing chairs and to make forms that look like chairs from scratch. I have also been experimenting with creating new forms from the pieces i have cut off the existing chairs.

I have decided i need to refine what i am looking at, so i am going to concentrate on just one object within the everday, looking at chairs and how they are used, when and who uses them, at what points during the day they are used etc. Looking at the form of the chairs, drawing the forms, photographing them, breaking the forms down, constructing them, reconstructing them. I am also going to continue with the ideas Steph and i had when collaborating in Skye about intruding into space and drawing lines within space.

the everday

continuing to work with the everyday project, taking part in the mapping workshop, which started to get me thinking about how all the small things about our everyday lives build up to map out things about us. Started to look at recording routes within the city, intrusion into space and how mundane everyday objects can become exciting and can be viewed in new ways and ways that the object isnt recognisable. I am also contuing to photograph everyday life around glasgow and to look into drawing and documenting forms within the everyday. I am interested in perception and how as an artist i can play with perception and make people see things in a new light.
